There are no shortages of places to shop in Bangkok - it's a true shopping mecca.
Amarin Plaza Bangkok
The stylish Amarin Plaza is linked to Erawan Bangkok via a skybridge. The five-story shopping plaza has an almost festive aura to it, drawing in a mixed crowd - from affluent Thais to expats and business travelers - with highly desirable brand names such as Guy Laroche, Valentino and Crocodile, to name but a few.
BTS stop: Get off at Chitlom Station. Then walk along the sky bridge following the signs to Amarin Plaza.
Central World
Super modern, newly launched, revamped and rebranded CentralWorld. With 550,000 square metes of retail space and a total area size of 830,000 square metes that is 30% larger than any other shopping center in central Bangkok, CentralWorld is now officially the largest lifestyle shopping complex in Southeast Asia.
BTS stop: Get off at Siam Station, approximately 5 min walk.
Emporium Shopping Center
The Emporium is a popular hub for entertainment, gourmet and education for local residents and visitors. Entertainment offerings include a world-class cinema, an exhibition hall, and children's play centers. The Emporium's many dining options range from chic restaurants like Greyhound Cafe to classic restaurants, an upscale food hall and fast food courts, and includes all types of international cuisine.
Location: on Sukhumvit Road at Sukhumvit Soi 24 beside Queen's Park
BTS stop: Get off at Phrom Phong, a sky bridge is directly linked to Emporium Shopping Complex.
MBK Shopping Center
also known as Mahboonkrong (Thai: มาบุญครอง), is an enormous marble shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. At eight stories high and 330 metres long, with 2,500 shops using a total selling area of 89,000 square metres, this shopping mall used to be one of the biggest malls in Asia when it was first founded in 1985. It is particularly well known for its many vendors of mobile phones and other electronics, as well as furniture stores.
BTS stop: National Stadium Station; also within walking distance of Siam station.
Pantip Plaza IT Mall in Bangkok
The mother of all IT shops, the entirety of Pantip Plaza is dedicated to computer and technology items. The multistory shopping center on Petchaburi Road offers a wide selection of stores, selling everything from computers and computer-related accessories, including; parts, printers, digital cameras, MP3 players, PDAs, and much more. Pantip Plaza is also (in)famous for its inexpensive counterfeit versions of software and DVDs. Although you might not be a techno-geek, it’s worth visiting when you're in the area for the pure fascination value.
BTS stop: Pantip is not overly convenient from any BTS stop. From the BTS, it's a "longish walk."
Siam Discovery
This trendy shopping complex is still a favorite among Bangkok's younger and fashionable crowds. Opposite Siam Square, this modern center adjoins Siam Center and showcases a good selection of shops, restaurants and designer fashion outlets.
BTS stop: Get off at Siam Station (Interchange Station). This station is connected to Siam Center (Exit 1).
Siam Paragon Shopping Centre
It is one of the biggest shopping centers in Asia. Opened on December 9, 2005, it includes a wide range of specialty stores and restaurants as well as a multiplex movie theater and the Siam Ocean World (Underwater world) aquarium (the largest aquarium in South East Asia) and an exhibition hall and the Thai Art Gallery and also an opera concert hall. It also has a large bowling alley and karaoke center. It is a joint venture by Siam Piwat, the company that owns the adjacent Siam Center/Siam Discovery shopping malls, and The Mall Group, which also owns The Emporium.
Location: on Rama I Road in Pathum Wan district. It is next door to Siam Center and Siam Discovery Center and opposite Siam Square. MBK Center is also nearby. An elevated walkway beneath the BTS Skytrain tracks links Siam Paragon to the Ratchaprasong intersection, where CentralWorld, Gaysorn and several other shopping malls are located.
BTS stop: Siam Station - has a skybridge linked to Siam Paragon's M floor.
Movies/Cinemas
Want to catch a movie while you are here? Escape the heat and spend a few hours in the comfort of a modern air-conditioned cinema. Nearly all of the major shopping centers (listed above) have a cinema. Western movies are played with the sound track in English and Thai subtitles. Many of the Thai movies have English sub-titles.
Nightlife & Nightclubs
The most famous of the nightlife areas are not far from the Rembrandt Hotel. All of Bangkok's red light districts are near one another - nearby Soi Cowboy and Nana are only about a 10 minute walk from each other. Nana and Soi Cowboy are on the same BTS train line - Sukhumvit and only one station stop away from each other. You can get to Patpong easily by using the BTS trains near Nana and Soi Cowboy red light districts and vice versa in about 10 minutes. But you have to change trains at the Siam BTS station to the Silom line which will take you to Sala Daeng BTS station. It's all really and simple and cheap to ride the BTS.

This Soi is highlighted by nightclubs such as Bed Super Club, Q Bar, DIVA and many more.
Sukhumvit Soi 23
Featuring nightclubs such as Glow and Narcissus. Be sure to check these out if you are into the club scene.
Block RCA (Royal City Avenue)
With clubs like 808, Route 66, Slim and Dude. Located between Petburi Road and Rama 9 road. These are just 5 to 10 minutes drive from Sukhumvit / Asoke and the Rembrandt Hotel.
Chidlom and Ploenchit Bars & Pubs
Upmarket and aspirational, Chidlom and Ploenchit's drinking holes revolve mainly around snazzy hotel bars and chic wine bars catering to the cities well heeled. They include 87+, Bar@ 494, Diplomat Bar and Syn Bar.
Sukhumvit Soi 24
You will find lots of entertainment centres, pubs, bars, and restaurants. The famous seafood restaurant is easily
found when you enter this road. There are also Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and European restaurants.
Lounges and Bars - mellow scene, a place to talk
If the sweaty dance crowd and loud music are not your idea of a great night out, Bangkok has plenty of other options for you. Bars and lounges are usually there right along side the pubs and clubs around the city. A few great examples: the Sky Bar at State Tower, Long Table at Sukhumvit 16, or “The Nest” witch is on Sukhumvit 11. These are ideal places to chill out, chat or just watch the people, great bars and lounges can also be found in most Hotels. Hunt around a bit and you will find the perfect scene.
Soi Cowboy
Soi Cowboy is a red-light district in Bangkok, Thailand. A short street with some 40 bars, it is similar to Nana Plaza and Patpong and caters mainly to tourists and expatriates.
It is located near Sukhumvit Road, between Sukhumvit Soi 21 (also called Soi Asoke) and Soi 23, within walking distance from the BTS Skytrain's "Asok Station" and the MRT "Sukhumvit Station".
Patpong (Thai: พัฒน์พงษ์, "Phatphong")
Is an entertainment district in Bangkok, Thailand, catering mainly, though not exclusively, to foreign tourists and expatriates. While Patpong is internationally known as a red light district at the heart of Bangkok's sex industry, the city in fact has numerous red-light districts that are far more popular with Thai men. A busy night market aimed at tourists is also located in Patpong.
Getting there: Patpong is within walking distance from the BTS Sala Daeng Station, and MRT Si Lom Station.
Nana Plaza
Nana Plaza (officially Nana Entertainment Plaza; shortened NEP) is a red-light district in Bangkok, which is rumoured to be the largest sex complex in the world. It is located on Sukhumvit Road Soi 4 across from the Nana Hotel, within walking distance of the BTS Skytrain's "Nana Station". The name originates from the Nana family (with Lek Nana the most prominent member) who owns many properties in the area and has much influence in Thailand.
